SMUNC Press Corp.

Dear Members.
I congratulate you again for a successful SMUNC 2009.  As you may know, the Press Corp worked hard to write coverage during the conference.  We were not able to print the article out of our environmental consciousness.  The article is attached below, I encourage you to read it and see what happened in other committees.

I also would like to recognize and give special thanks to Ben Jiao for directing Press Corp while I was not there.

-JingDong Jeff Bai
Public Relations/SMUNC Press Corp Director

Conference List & Dates

St. Ignatius Model United Nations (SIMUN VIII) - November 7th, 2009.

SIMUN VIII is a great introductory conference for neophytes and a great conference for veterans who want to brush up upon their parliamentary procedure. Usually we take mostly new members to this one day conference which is set-up similarly to our SMUNC (Conference).

Brown University Simulation of the United Nations (BUSUN) - November 13th-15th, 2009.

Typically a veteran conference, BUSUN is for the experienced delegate wishing to center themselves in an academic enriching environment. Reaching to the depths of international issues and wrestling with hard-pressing problems, delegates will need to be well-prepared to tackle this conference.

Chicago International Model United Nations (CIMUN) - December 10th-13th, 2009.

CIMUN is the most fun conference (as considered by an informal straw-poll vote) and it is among the most interesting. Set in the heart of Chicago, this four day conference challenges each delegate to be at his/her top-game. This is one of the better conferences for neophytes just beginning to bite into Model UN. Approx cost: $175.

Ivy League Model United Nations Conference (ILMUNC) - January 28th-31st, 2010.

UPMUNC is a new conference this year. Although in years past we have visited, we are making our great return in order to impress the University of Pennsylvania. This will require the cream of the crop as our best delegates will be chosen to attend this conference. All eyes are now watching as we await who gets to go on this trip. Approx cost: $250-275

Northwestern University Model United Nations (NUMUN) - April 8th-11th, 2010.

Considered one of the best conferences (actually it ties with Duke's Conference for best) year-round, NUMUN enlightens the ideal thinker with tough issues yet allows for a great debate in which delegates must dig into in order to succeed at this tasteful conference. Approx cost: $150-175

- Don't be discouraged if you cannot attend any of these conferences. If you show us you're willing to do hard work and can attend next year, we will be looking at your performance in order to place you in the proper conference in the following year. Most likely however, each delegate from Model UN will be able to go to at least one conference. If you have any financial concerns or have any questions, do not hesitate to ask/approach one of the E-Board Members, Myself, or the Sponsors.

Thank you,
Danyal Sheikh
